    Gern geschehen! :)

    @Graham
    That depends, for example, I've optimized my old laptop (i3 CPU, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD) and it literally flies. And most importantly, it's glitch-free. I don't hear any audio dropouts.

    Give it a go, and share your experience! :)

    I will measure and report, if I do that.

    Though I see a lot of chances to mess up my system also.. o_O

    Don't worry, there must be a standard disclaimer in a book and general advice that you make a full backup of your system, just in case (I do it every month).

    You should be fine with the guidelines.

    Theoretically speaking, a Windows feature update may break lots of things and make lots of headache (licensing, bugs, plugins that fail...). So, this book also shows advice on how to control these things. You want to control all these variables and your overall PC's behaviour.

    Happy tweaking! :)

    Ok, thanks, one more thing,

    how do you measure your machine's performance?

    Any elegant tricks for reliable measurements?

    My feeling tells me that fecking box does different every day.. o_O

    Please refer to this book. There are "performance apps" presented. You can include many counters (CPU, RAM, disk counters, etc, and monitor your performance through the specific period).
