"It seems that the idea of using hardware buttons over an lcd screen is already patented in the USA."
"I guess the patent is hold by Harman International for their Vistonics concept on the Studer and Soundcraft desks. Could be hard to find a way around."
"A lot of money for the Studer / Revox / Soundcraft patent holders:"
"It pisses me off that a company owns a patent just to put it in a drawer and does not use it. So if they want to create a copy of my work - so be it - I may even help. I created the controller because there was nothing - and it seems that after 2 years - there's still nothing like it. If this was only a software project I would have gone open source a long time ago. I only will do it if someone out there will not. I don't need this to earn money. I still have my very small software company, my family and my music and I would thank you very much retain my honor

First of all, thank you all for keep sending me messages
To the point: I tried 3 times to build this controller. It is nearly impossible to get a reasonable
selling price (i.e < US$ 500) without a established hardware company backing you.
In the last months I received a couple of emails from very nice people around the globe (Thanks
Emre - from germany )
So I decided once more to try to build this thing.
I will keep you posted here and at the website of my musical group, storya.
