Josh from Event here. The website is actually
www.event1.com the index1 is a page that should be removed and is very old.
The primary differences--being that all three share the same woofer, tweeter and port design--is wattage, system noise, and accuracy. The TR8 is 80 Watts, the TR8XL is 150W, and the 20/20basV2 is 200W.
The TR8XL and 20/20basV2 have toroid transformers which provide a much lower system noise and internal vibration than most standard coil transformers.
The amplifier in the 20/20basV2 is a wattage step down from it's bigger brother the Studio Precision [g=182]amp[/g] (280W). The TR8XL is a cross between the TR8 and the 20/20basV2 [g=182]amp[/g].
The advantages of Wattage is greater transient reproduction accuracy, also creating more even frequency response at lower volume levels.
More Wattage does not equate to lower [g=118]bass[/g] response, just better [g=118]bass[/g] handling. Cabinet, woofer, and port design depict how low the [g=226]monitor[/g] can reproduce, hence all three listed monitors have a low end response of 38Hz at -3dB.
At all costs... give a listen. That is the only real way to judge. If you have any questions, let me know.
