Geheimtipp Violet Design Mikrofone?

danke

Do you want an excellent stagemike? For what purpose?

Yes I am after a great microphone for my live gigs. I play with a guitar only and my voice is the main part of the show, I have a low deep voice and play blues, folk, rythm'n'blues, soul, jazz. I play in pubs, restaurants, private events, anything really that's not a proper stage yet.

At the moment I'm using a dynamic MBHO MBD 219sc mic that is a great mic that can showcase the lows in my voice, but I want to upgrade and thought the SR40V might be the ticket. Then I heard about the Violet design Pearl vocal that got me intrigued. I love the studio mics from this company and don't know what to expect from their stage microphone. I understand it was released in 2008 so I am wondering why I can't find any information on it??

Anyway if you have some feedback I'd be very grateful :)

At the top end I would suggest DPA 4018V. I don't know the Pearl from my own experience, bit I can recommend the Audio Technica AE 5400 instead. I tested both the DPA and the AE 5400. Both very valuable.

Thanks for the recommendation. Exemples of the DPA I heard sound bland to me, very neutral yes but a bit boring, with a kind of behind-the-theater-curtain feel if that does mean anything to you :p

About the AE5400... yeah I feel it could work for me. I hear a kind of smoothness/lushness from top to bottom than reminds me of tubes vs fet. I feel it doesn't have as much resolution/detail/transients as other condenser mics, leaning a bit towards the dynamic mics compartiment. But that might actually be a good thing for me and what I play. It sounds not detailed, but big !

Do you feel the same about these mics or am I fooling myself?

BTW I currently use a MBHO MBD 219 sc dynamic mic, great handmade german mic. The AE5400 reminds me of it a bit, but bigger and more open.

The DPA is very accurate. I really liked it in practice. But it has a very high price. The AE 5400 naturally has all the advantages of the 4050 large diaphragm capsule, but is very feedback-proof. It even worked for Metallica. But in this category we talk about small advantages among each other. You can work well with both.
For readings, I prefer the Microtech Gefell M 900. The best mic for this purpose. And also from Germany.
